Three quotes for eight cameras can differ a lot, usually because each one includes different things. Use this list to compare them fairly.
What a complete quote lists
- Cameras: full model, type, night-vision range, lens and IP rating (IP67 or better outdoors in the UAE).
- Recorder and storage: an NVR with room to expand, and a surveillance hard drive sized for the days of recording you need.
- Cabling and installation: cable type and length, PoE switch, concealed or conduit routing, labels on both ends, weatherproof boxes.
- Setup and remote viewing: angles, recording mode, app on your phones, strong passwords and firmware updates.
- Training, documentation and warranty: how to search and export footage, a camera map, manufacturer warranty plus a separate workmanship warranty.
Red flags in very cheap quotes
- No model numbers or brands.
- A small hard drive that holds only a few days.
- Cabling not mentioned, or added later as an extra.
- No written warranty on the installation.
