Most buyers ask about size first. The number that matters more is the pixel pitch, because it decides how sharp the image looks from where people stand, and it drives the price.
What is pixel pitch?
It is the distance in millimetres between the centres of two neighbouring pixels, written with a P: P2.5 means 2.5 mm. A smaller number means denser pixels, a smoother picture up close, and a higher price.
The rule of thumb: viewing distance
A common industry rule: the closest comfortable viewing distance in metres is roughly the pitch number, and the ideal distance is two to three times that.
- Boardrooms and control rooms: P1.2 to P1.9.
- Shops, showrooms and lobbies: P2.5 to P3.9.
- Facades and outdoor billboards: P4 to P10, depending on distance to the road.
Brightness and the UAE climate
Indoor screens usually need 600 to 1,500 nits. Outdoor screens in UAE sunlight need 5,000 nits or more to stay readable by day, with automatic dimming at night. Outdoor screens also need dust and water protection (at least IP65 on the front) and proper ventilation or cooling.
What the catalogue doesn't show
Project quality also depends on the steel structure and wind load, power and data cabling, the video processor, content software and service access. Ask every supplier about these before comparing prices.
